PNQ of 10 March 2015

Honourable Leader of the Opposition, Mr Paul Raymond Bérenger, GCSK, MP, has given notice of the following Private Notice Question which he proposes to put to the Rt. Honourable Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Home Affairs, Minister for Rodrigues and National Development Unit at the sitting to be held today, Tuessday 10 March 2015 at 11.30 a.m.

To ask the Rt. Honourable Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Home Affairs, Minister for Rodrigues and National Development Unit –

Whether, in regard to the death of Mr Iqbal Toofany whilst in Police custody at Rivière Noire, he will –

a)      a) for the benefit of the House, obtain information –

A.     from the Commissioner of Police –

                                                              i.      if the Police objected to the release on bail of the Police officers arrested in connection therewith and if not, why not;

                                                            ii.      if he or his representatives has/have received members of the family of the deceased; and

                                                          iii.      where matters stand as to the Police inquiry carried out there into;

B.     if the Director of Public Prosecutions has received members of the family of the deceased; and

C.     where matters stand as to the judicial inquiries carried out there into; and
