Resolution calling for the release of Nurul Izzah Ibrahim

Resolution calling for the release of Nurul Izzah Ibrahim and other incarcerated members of the Opposition in Malaysia.
The Central Committee of the Mouvement Militant Mauricien (MMM) at its meeting of 18 March, 2015, have taken cognizance of the information detailes by Paul Berenger, leader of the MMM and of the opposition, regarding the arrest and detention of Nurul Izzah Ibrahim, member of Parliament and daughter of the jailed leader of the Opposition Anwar Ibrahim, of other members of the Opposition, including Member of Parliament Teo Kok Seong, National Chairperson of the Youth Wing of the Democratic Action Party.

Deeply concerned about the recurrent acts of repression against the duly elected representatives of the Opposition, in complete disregard of democratic values. The MMM expresses its unreserved solidarity with the Leader of the Opposition Anwar Ibrahim, his daughter Nurul Izzah, MP Teo Lol Seong, MP and National Chairperson of the Youth Wing of DAP, and other incarcerated members of the Opposition.

The MMM calls upon the Government of Malaysia to uphold the legitimacy of Opposition forces to perform their duties in conformity with democratic norms and values and within the parameters of the rule of law and release the incarcerated Opposition leaders.
Finally the MMM appeals to the international commun
ity, the countries of the region and more specifically the members of the ASEAN to bear on the Government of Malaysia to allow members of the Opposition to exercise their right to freedom of expression and action without let or hindrance.
